This is a joint program with the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, in which a series of study seminars will be conducted. Faculty members and students will give presentations and participate in discussions. Students will also learn about the latest accomplishments by American and European specialists of premodern Japanese studies and participate in presentations and discussions in English, which will serve as an opportunity to re-evaluate academic premises and methodologies. This experience will likely be an eye-open for students who usually study ancient Japan using concepts of languages of East Asia.
